I will Remember, Insha’Allah

The reason behind for Muslims to state insha’Allah is to determine that an event in the future could happen on condition that Allah wills it. So when I say  “I will wake up in Fajar Salat, insha’Allah,” I am accepting that what I plan to do cannot be fully guaranteed. I profess to the presence of Allah in my day to day life, and His ultimate control over the coordination and course of the minute and significant happenings of my life.

Usage of Insha’Allah

It is extremely easy to forget to say insha’Allah in our daily lives, partly considering that the phrase has strayed so far from the intended meaning in popular usage. Insha’Allah has in many cases turn into a slang way of avoiding dedication to anything. Especially when an individual is too cowardly to say ‘no’, s/he will rather say insha’Allah in order to brush aside the truth: that they do not intend to do something, but can’t be troubled to be upfront regarding it.
Two definitions for this phrase, very different in their implications, have thus took place. One very beautifully encapsulates Islam, a frame of mind where a person lives in submitting to Allah and respects the time and commitments s/he makes. Additional, void of awareness of Allah, gives a person a false sense of positively control over their lives. It is possible to overlook how fragile the progress of our lives really is. As an ocean has an unbeatable current guiding the movement of things beyond our daily understanding, it would be egotistical to think that one single individual has controls over a force that guides the flow of the lives.
In the banality in our daily procedures, we often get the sense we have today control over the events of our days; which we can do and have anything we desire. But the reality is we never can know what the future holds for us. All of our plans, aspirations and goals, indeed every step we take, are at Allah’s will.

“Never say of anything, ‘I shall certainly do this tomorrow,’ without adding, ‘if Allah so wills.’ Remember your Lord whenever you forget and say, ‘I trust my Lord will guide me to that which is even nearer to the right path than this.’”
