Prophets Yusuf - Dhul-Kifl

Yusuf عليه السلام

Yusuf or Joseph, the son of Jacob or Israel is talked about 17 times in the Quran. He was left in a Jerusalem well by his brothers, and then taken Egypt where he attained a high rank in the Empire. Later, his father, Jacob, as well as brothers settled in Egypt.

Shuaib عليه السلام

Shuaib or Jethro, mentioned eleven times in the Quran, was sent to the people of Madyan, who was one of the sons of Abraham. Shuaib lived amongst the time of Lot and Moses and was an Arab prophet. His people worshipped a tree known as Al-Aykah (15:78, 26:176, 38:13, 50:14). They were highway robbers, and also cheated in business trades. Several punishments came down upon them: a terrible cry combined with an earthquake destroyed them.

Ayyub عليه السلام

Ayyub or Job is mentioned four times in the Quran. He is said to have resided close to either the Deadsea or Damascus. He was an affluent prophet who was tested by God with impoverishment and sickness, but he was patient and was helped by his loyal wife who stayed by him in every single hardship. Ultimately, they are immensely rewarded by God for their patience.

Yunus عليه السلام

Yunus or Jonah, also referred to as "Dhun-Noon," is mentioned four times in the Quran. He lived-in Nineveh, close to Mosul, in Iraq. He left his people before God allowed him to, headed towards modern day Tunisia, but perhaps ended up in Yafa. He was swallowed by the whale, he then repented to God and returned to his people in Iraq where all 100,000 of them repented and also believed in him.

Dhul-Kifl عليه السلام


Dhul-Kifl is mentioned two times in the Quran. Some scholars say he was the son of Job, others say he's Ezekiel of the Bible.
