The 99 Names of Allah
Allah has described Himself in the Quran through His Names as well as Attributes. Muslims have faith that studying these Names and Attributes a very important effective ways of strengthening one’s relationship with Allah. Every single Name and Attribute revitalizes a kind of consciousness and humility in man in addition to their study leads one to constantly better their actions.
“The most beautiful names belong to Allah: so call on Him by them.” (Quran, 7:180)
Muslims are asked to call upon Allah throughout their supplications by the most appropriate names that associate with what they are requesting for. For example, if one is seeking forgiveness from Allah for a sin they have committed, they would frequently call upon Him by His name “Al-Ghaffar,” meaning “The Ever Forgiving.” If one is asking for for peace and tranquility in their lives while experiencing a period of tension, they would call on Allah by His name “As-Salaam,” which means “The Ultimate Source of Peace.”
