Forgiveness and Mercy of Allah

Forgiveness and Mercy of Allah

By accepting that the power of forgiveness lies solely in the hands of Allah, the human being mind is also liberated from any superstitious notion or strange ideas about how precisely to remit for those sins committed. As we indicated earlier on, the Islamic method of remission is sincerity, stopping that which was being done that was wrong and immoral, and turning back to Allah in repentance as well as sincerity.

It also avoids the inclination that humans have in deifying another human beings in the hopes that people might take care of their sins. As we talked about before, this tendency was not specific to one case or any other. There have been so many instances throughout history where people were considered to be deities or manifestations or incarnations of deities. Even though those people themselves have emphatically denied this and never claimed that they were something more than sincere human beings.

There were cases, for the duration of history, where people took the power unto on their own to grant forgiveness to people. You’d be forced to pay a certain amount of money and you get a document that says that your sins have-been forgiven. Islam insists that forgiveness only is based on the hands of Allah. That is a primary reason why, in a way, Islam does not accept the concept of priesthood as it is regarded in the west. A person may be a religious scholar but not a priest in the terminological sense.

And finally, the belief in the mercifulness of Allah as the final authority, leads the individual to gain a sense of responsibility and accountability. You do not rely on the mindset that someone else are going to take care of your sins. No, you are responsible, individually, before Allah and as such you have this sense of trying your best in following His order.

Mercy

You could declare that mercy relates to forgiveness, but we will add a few more details. Mercy also pertains to inculcating the attitude of gratefulness to Allah. This is certainly we don’t take all the blessings and bounties that Allah has provided us for granted. We understand that they are manifestations of His mercy. Perhaps the glass of water that we drink, including the smell of fresh air that is around us, we ought to always remember and think that these are all indications of the mercy of Allah.
In case the individual faces and problems or difficulties in his life, he must not feel broken hearted or feel despair simply because, as the Quran says, one should never despair from the mercy of Allah. The truth is, the Quran says, “Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (39: 53)
“No one despairs of Allah’s soothing mercy except those who have no faith.” (Quran, 12: 87)

Absolute Will and Power of Allah

Realizing that all-power belongs only in the hands of Allah eliminates any servitude to some other human being; servitude that people might have to other people because we now have hope that they may benefit us. The Quran says the benefit only comes from Allah and not other human beings.
Moreover, it causes us become more humble, realizing that all power is in the possession of of Allah and so whatever we've got by way of wealth, position, or whatever we should be very humble because we know that Allah can take it all away at any time. Therefore, we do not exploit people. We don’t use this power or wealth or influence in regards to our own benefit. We recognize that there is a purpose to serve by having all of this.

Closeness to Allah

In addition to the various passages in the Quran, that I quoted before saying Allah is closer to man than his jugular vein, that Allah is close to anybody who prays to Him, and that in Islam there are not any intermediaries between humans and Allah and therefore in the five daily prayers you pray and communicate directly with Allah. This is considered the most noble, close, and direct personal relationship that one could have with the Creator.
And additionally this, this kind of experience or concept provides the person the chance to have the spiritual connection with direct contact with Allah that would undoubtedly lead to the feeling of peace of mind and peace of heart, which are the most valuable thing that anyone could attain within this life. Big car and big houses and lots of money and jobs with high salary are all trivial. The real value in life is to get this inner peace in the heart and mind.
To conclude, the Quran says:
“Whoever believes in Allah, Allah guides his heart aright.” (64:11)
“Allah is the Protector of those who have faith: He will lead them from the depths of darkness into light. Of those who reject faith their patrons are the evil ones: they will lead them from light into the depths of darkness.” (2:257)
“It is He Who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the Believers, that they may add faith to their faith.” (48:4)

“Those who believe and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah- Lo in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.” (13:28)
